For now, Mitsubishi Motors only previews the exterior design of the fresh compact SUV alongside the lineup for the 30th GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show. The world premiere is set for later, and production will start ahead of the first deliveries in November.
In America, the Mitsubishi family includes few noteworthy models – only the flagship 2023 Outlander PHEV keeps the banner up, while the cheaper Mirage G4 sedan, Mirage hatch, Outlander Sport, Eclipse Cross, and Outlander crossovers are not that enticing. Sorry, Mitsubishi fans, but that's the grim reality.

The Japanese automaker probably knows that and has diligently taken care of other regions' business. In Europe, for example, they are stealing the DNA of Renault Clio and Captur models for their badge-engineered Colt and ASX models. And, of course, that's basically a nail in the coffin of sadness if you want our two cents on the matter.

Luckily, further away from the US or the Old Continent, in Indonesia, things are looking up for the better – at least visually, if not necessarily from the technical standpoint. Mitsubishi Motors just announced its full event lineup for the 30th GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show. And, alongside the local premiere of the eK X EV show car or apparitions from the Minicab-MiEV, Xpander Cross, Xpander, and Pajero Sport, there's also the world premiere of the company's all-new compact SUV.

Although it's labeled as a 'world premiere,' this model lacks a couple of essential qualities – the Japanese carmaker doesn't have a name for the new model, as far as this online preview is concerned. Secondly, only the exterior design of this all-new compact SUV is revealed. Perhaps they're keeping the name and interior under wraps for the actual introduction in front of the live-action; who knows?

No worries, all secrets – or the lack thereof – will be revealed between August 10 and 20, when the 30th edition of the GIIAS will take place at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) in BSD City. For now, though, we know just a few of the juicy details. For example, the all-new model will be produced locally at Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Indonesia (Bekasi, West Java), and deliveries are set to commence in November this year.

Regarding the design, this model takes after last year's XFC Concept and looks ready for series production. It's still a jacked-up compact SUV, but don't let the rugged demeanor fool anyone – Mitsubishi also shared some of the technical specifications, and we found out this will be sold solely with front-wheel drive (2WD).

Additionally, it has traditional dimensions for the segment (4,390 mm x 1,810 mm x 1,660 mm for length, width, and height) and a massive ground clearance of 222 mm. Under the hood resides a 1.5-liter engine hooked to a CVT transmission, and that's about it before the model's actual world premiere. Hopefully, the interior will not disappoint, either.
