A handful of photos of the brand new CLA compact sports sedan have emerged onto the internet. As per usual, the car looks hyper-sexy, mainly due to the fact that it’s wearing an optional Sport body kit that makes it look just like the AMG version.
We can only presume that Mercedes wanted the right photos to leak onto the internet before the car is actually revealed at the upcoming Detroit Auto Show in mid-January, 2013.
The CLA is, of course, the new compact sedan based on the A-Class platform and is going to be sold in the US under the C-Class sedans, which start from $35,350 right now.
In Europe, the CLA-Class will be offered with the same lineup of engines as the A-Class, meaning turbocharged four-cylinder diesel and petrol units, ranging from the base 1.6 petrol with 122 PS and 1.5 diesel (Renault sourced) diesel with 109 PS, to the 2.1-liter 170 PS top diesel and 2-liter 211 PS unit in the range-topping petrol.
Of course, Mercedes has not announced plans to bring small diesels to the US, so we can only presume the engine range will look quite different.
Mercedes has also a 4MATIC all-wheel drive system specifically for small cars and is going to offer a dual-clutch transmission option.
