With just a few months left until the production McLaren P1s are shipped to their lucky customers, the British sportscar manufacturer is still out there testing their hybrid performance vehicle.
To further test the P1’s durability, McLaren took the LaFerrari contender all the way to the Arctic Circle, in northern Sweden, and put its 916 PS powered-wheels on a frozen lake. Because you just can't have a car that's great on the track and sucks on ice, right?
“This extensive work is being carried out to ensure that the McLaren P1 delivers on the target of being 'the best driver's car in the world on road and track'...or a frozen lake, for that matter [...] The testing schedule continues at pace, with XP prototypes running extensively across the globe, working to optimise the groundbreaking systems and technologies which have been borne of 50 years of race-winning knowledge and expertise,” McLaren announced in a press release.
As a quick reminder, the McLaren P1 will be built in only 375 units with prices starting at $1.3 million (€1 million). The hybrid supercar is expected to be completely sold out by the end of the summer.
