Given the traction that the custom car community across the world is enjoying nowadays, there's basically no build out there that can come as a complete surprise, at least as far as heavy Internet surfers are concerned. Speaking of wacky projects, here's a contraption that started out in life like a Mazda Miata, but is currently in a totally different form.
We're basically looking at what can be described like a Mazda Miata hot rod. Sure, the little Japanese roadster might not strike one as the first choice of a hot rodder, but the work we have here comes to contradict that - helmet tip to Harry Dodds on the Y U RUNE KLASSIK? Facebook group for the images of the vehicle.
It all starts with the reworked appearance of the Mazda. Sure, the project isn't complete yet, but, as mentioned in the title above, it looks like something that Mad Max would drive, or at least a machine that would be used to chase the desert warrior.
Checking out the posterior of the toy reveals a custom trunk that seems to come from decades ago. Oh, and yes, the hardtop of the machine has been gifted with a soft top window, because why not?
Nevertheless, the best bits seem to be located up front. I'm talking about the Mercedes-Benz grille, which seems to do a pretty good job at concealing the heart transplant of the car.
However, with the rest of the engine compartment being exposed, it's not difficult to notice the straight-six that now occupies it. We're looking at RB30 unit lifted off a Patrol, which comes with a 350 Holley carburetor.
While this four-wheeled creature certainly needs extra work until it can reach its final form, the direction in which it seems to be heading clearly sets it part from the tons of Mazda Miata builds that have emerged over the years.
