Mazda yesterday introduced the new CX-9 in Australia, a range that will be offered in three models, Classic, Luxury and Grand Touring. The car will be priced from AU$49,990 and will be offered with a wide array of interior and exterior upgrades. The Classic model is priced AU$2,000 less than the equivalent outgoing model, while the Luxury version is AU$3,115 less.
The car will be powered by a 3.7-liter V6 petrol engine with 24-valves that produces 274 horsepower and 376 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 6-speed Activematic transmission, with power being delivered to the wheels using the Active Torque Split (ATS) all-wheel drive system.
All models are equipped with three-zone climate control air-conditioning, alloy wheels, cruise control and power windows and mirrors. An MP3/WMA compatible CD player, a reversing camera with rear parking assistance is also offered. Satellite Navigation can be optioned on CX-9 Luxury and is standard on Grand Touring.
In terms of safety, the CX-9 range includes Antilock brakes, Traction Control, Dynamic Stability Control and Roll Stability Control,front, side and curtain airbags for all three rows of occupants as well as Active Front head restraints.
"The addition of the new CX-9 Grand Touring means customers looking for a seven-seat SUV now have more choice than ever. Completing the new CX-9 range are the CX-9 Classic and CX-9 Luxury models which have proven popular with the Australian public since their introduction in 2007," Mazda said in a release in early September when announcing the debut of the car Down Under.
