These new off-road-focused accessory packs are presented for the Australian specification of the third-generation (TF) Mazda BT-50, complete with pricing and availability info across the board.
The Mazda BT-50 mid-size pickup truck has been in production since 2006 but never as a solitary creation from the Japanese manufacturer. Instead, the larger spiritual successor variant of the B-Series pickup (not sold at home or in North America) always had a sibling like the Ford Ranger (PJ/PK and T6) for the first two iterations and the third-generation Isuzu D-Max for the current model. But that hasn't stopped the automaker from infusing it with the latest Kodo styling to make it akin to the CX crossover range.

As such, no wonder the company is calling its creation a 'beauty' from time to time. But what if you want the commercial-oriented vehicle to warrant its workhorse status and turn into a 'beast?' Well, if you live in the Land Down Under, that's not going to be a problem because Mazda's Australian subsidiary just announced the introduction of two new accessory packs to "add to the off-road appeal of the Mazda truck." They are designed to offer "a choice of sporty and sophisticated upgrades," and customers can mix and match them to the top SP and Thunder models.

First, the Mazda BT-50 SP Pro "enhancement pack" welcomes a Nitrocharger suspension for the first time in the BT-50 range, which has upgraded springs and twin-tube shock absorbers along with a lifted stance of up to another couple of inches compared to stock. But wait, because that is not all. Mazda also offers new and exclusive 18-inch wheels for a wider track, an integrated Lightforce LED lightbar in the front grille that ensures one lux of illumination at up to 569 meters (0.35 miles), along with BT-50 'SP Pro' decals on the flanks.

Getting the Mazda BT-50 SP Pro accessory pack will set eager customers back exactly AUD 7,668 (RFP – recommended fitting price), which is around $5,132 at the current exchange rates. Still, it's a tad less than the BT-50 Thunder Pro pack that's priced at AUD 9,046 RFP (over $6k) and will also become available for order from local Mazda dealers starting in July for any BT-50 SP and Thunder, even older ones thanks to their retrofit design. The highlights for the BT-50 Thunder Pro pack continue to build on the OEM goodies, which include an ADR-approved single hoop bulbar and a LED lightbar.

Still, the Thunder Pro pack is not the be trifled with, either, thanks to the new manually adjustable (compression and rebound) Old Man Emu BP-51 suspension (medium load use in the range of zero to 300 kg/661 lbs.) featuring nitrogen-filled dampers with remote reservoir. Additional accessories with the pack include a snorkel, round Lightforce LED driving lights combined with the lightbar for one lux of illumination at over 1.1 km (0.68 miles), and 'Thunder Pro' decals to wrap up the bespoke Australian look.
