One man's trash is another man's treasure, but when that piece of "trash" is a Black Badge Rolls-Royce Wrath with customization by Mansory and impressive celebrity pedigree, people will be throwing money at it, no matter how terrible a state it's in.
And this particular Black Badge Rolls-Royce Wraith with customization by Mansory and impressive celebrity pedigree is in a very bad state, to be sure. Saying that it has seen better days is putting it lightly because the previous owner, Premier League football star Marcus Rashford, crashed it last year. It's now for sale on the UK version of Copart, Salvage Market.
This was Rashford's second Rolls-Royce, after a cheaper Black Badge Cullinan and before a much more expensive 1-of-62 Cullinan Blue Shadow. It was a Black Badge Wraith that he had further customized by Mansory and which he wrecked last year on his way home from practice at Manchester United's Carrington training grounds.
The Wraith was hit by another vehicle and sent into a bollard, which it took out before stopping on an island. The good news is neither Rashford nor the other driver, who turned out to be a 74-year-old woman, received serious injuries. The car is another story, though. Damage is extensive, as photos available at the auction site show, but it still starts. Driving is another matter altogether, one that would require further investment.
But even so, the smashed vehicle is generating plenty of interest. It could be the Mansory work (and the still intact interior) or the association with a famous football star, or a combination of both, but the crashed Wraith has a top bid of £153,000 ($192,800 at the current exchange rate) as of the time of press. Or it could be the initial valuation of £700,000 ($882,200) that's getting potential buyers reaching for their wallets.
The auction ends on February 26. Rashford himself is probably not directly involved in the sale. As these things go, it's usually an insurer that puts a crashed vehicle previously owned by a celebrity up for sale in an attempt to recoup some losses, as we saw last month with actor Michael B. Jordan's crashed Ferrari 812 Superfast.
Rashford won't be missing the custom Wraith too much, either, as beautiful and expensive as it is.
Though he's just 26, the Manchester United forward has already put together a very impressive personal collection of luxury, mostly custom cars. Local media claims it's the most expensive private collection among Premier League players. It includes, besides the older Black Badge Rolls-Royce Cullinan and the Cullinan Blue Shadow he took delivery of in August 2023, a black and white McLaren 765LT, a Cadillac Escalade V Series, an Audi RSQ8, and an olive-green Lamborghini Urus, also customized.
