When it comes to Hellcat-spec Chargers, even though on paper they tend to be nearly as impressive as their two-door cousin, the Challenger, nobody’s going to pay God Tier muscle car money for a high-performance family sedan.
This is something Charger owners would be wise to remember. You really can’t fault the vehicle for what it is. I for one am a fan. But you also must be mindful of what it isn’t - specifically, a Challenger. With that in mind, paying over MSRP for a Charger is a dubious proposition at best.

What we have here is a 2023 Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody Jailbreak model, which failed to sell at auction recently after its owner rejected a bid of $92,500. To put things into perspective, this car had a sticker price of $101,934 and it only has 17 miles on the clock. It’s barely ever been driven.

Visually, we’re dealing with a Granite Crystal Metallic finish, working alongside the Midnight Metallic badging and widebody flared fenders, which add an extra 3.5 inches of width compared to a non-widebody Charger.

Other exterior highlights include the power sunroof, a rear spoiler, LED headlights, rear parking sensors, black exhaust tips, and a set of Carbon Black 20” Warp-Speed wheels with 305/35 Pirelli P Zero All Season tires and Gunmetal Gray-finished brake calipers.

Inside, there are Demonic Red leather front seats (heated, ventilated and power-adjustable), carbon fiber trim, heated rear seats, a Harman Kardon sound system, blind-spot monitoring, dual-zone automatic climate control, an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, plus a Uconnect 4 touch infotainment system with sat-nav.

As for performance, the supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V8 unit is putting down 807 horsepower and 707 lb-ft of torque, and it’s got the factory-equipped SRT Power Chiller too, which uses the a/c refrigerant to cool air as it makes its way into the intake ports.

While sending all that grunt to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission, this muscle-bound Charger will rocket you to 60 mph in about 3.5 seconds, which is properly quick. However, you might struggle to hit those numbers on an unprepped surface, aka in everyday driving conditions – you're much better off accelerating from a roll in one of these things.

How come it didn’t sell?

To me, the answer is pretty straightforward. There’s been a major shift as far as the used car market is concerned, and people are struggling to get good returns on investments. It’s especially painful for owners of Demon 170-spec Challengers.

The owner of this Charger is going to have their work cut out. To their credit, they have been taking great care of the car. According to them, it’s never been run on a track, and it was towed home from the dealership and placed on a lift. They’ve also been lowering it every other week, starting it up, backing it out of the driveway and then pulling back in and lifting it back up. Sounds like a healthy workout regimen.

That being said, I still don’t see this selling for over MSRP any time soon.
