The consumers’ “appetite” for luxury brand in China is directly proportional with their increasing economy and population: sky high.
While the Chinese prefer fancy French products when it comes to buying fashion and beauty items, their luxury car orientation was strictly towards German brands.
Not this year though, after the German trio (Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz) was busted by Lexus, coming in third, surpassed Mercedes, despite its smaller number of dealerships in the region. Lexus had only 99 Chinese dealerships in 2012, comparing to the 262 Mercedes ones, pointing out at the Japanese exclusivity.
In the overall Top 50 Most Sought-After Luxury Brands in China, Lexus achieved an honorable 6th place, well above supercar automakers like Lamborghini and Ferrari.
