Owners of Lexus IS 250 who were looking to get a more aggressive stance on the road and make their car a bit sportier now have the chance to do it using original Lexus accessories designed by the Japanese car manufacturer. The company has just debuted a Sports Package for the popular IS 250 model that adds a wide array of new elements, including 18-inch split five-spoke alloy wheels, satellite navigation, aluminium pedals and sports suspension.
In short terms, the new Sports Package is based on the Prestige trim and comes at a price of $62,990 for the manual transmission and $65,490 for automatic transmission - compared to $71,276 for the initial IS 250 Sports edition. Furthermore, the upgraded model brings leather-accented seat material over the alcantara leather used on the previous Sports version, the company said in a statement for the press.
"With the introduction of our IS F performance sedan, we’ve seen growing demand for sports-oriented Lexus models, and the IS 250 Sport satisfies this demand," Lexus chief executive John Roca. "The new IS 250 Sports Package has enabled us to offer all the features that customers desire, at a lower price point. The Package also benefits from the recent upgrades to the whole IS line, including a revised manual transmission which now offers faster gear changes."
Lexus IS is being offered in a choice of three different engines, with the 250 version developing 208 horsepower (153 kW) at 6400 rpm and 185 lb-ft of torque at 4800 rpm. The car sprints from a standstill to 100 in 8.1 seconds and is capable of reaching a top speed of around 142.9 mph (230 km/h).
