If there’s one crew that Americans have come to love, it’s KZ RV. Considering this team has been on the market since 1972, we can place them at the top with other longstanding RV manufacturers like Airstream, Winnebago, and a few others. But, the modern human has standards, and we’ll be exploring KZ’s Escape lineup to see if your needs can be met.
KZ RV has been around for 50 years, meaning they have to be doing something right. Over those years, this manufacturer has grown to be loved by outdoor seekers for its ability to offer affordable and capable machines designed to help you get in touch with your wilder side. As the years rolled by, this crew eventually became the powerhouse it is today, employing over 600 people and boasting a product line with over 150 different floorplans.

One of those lineups includes the Escape, a class of travel trailers that seems to have a little something-something for everyone and ranges from classic campers to toy haulers and fifth wheels. But the ultimate question is, why would I bring to light another RV? Simply because this class seems to have something for everyone and nearly any budget.

What does this mean? It means that you can find an off-grid-ready travel trailer or camper priced as low as $24,000 (€23,900 at current exchange rates), depending on who your dealer may be and the markup they’ve tacked onto the MSRP. And for this price, you can find units as light as 2,700 pounds (1,225 kilograms) or as heavy as 4,000 pounds (1,814 kilograms) or more. Oh, and typically, the larger or heavier the unit, the more decked out it may be. Some are even suitable to house eight adventuring guests.

Ok, so these buggers are relatively affordable and can accommodate an extended family, but off-grid living is about so much more than just sleeping. So, to ensure that you have the sort of glamping experience you’re looking for, KZ gives extra attention to how each unit is compartmentalized. Why? Because arrangement is the secret to fitting all the necessary systems a future client may want or need to live comfortably.

For example, to maximize space, KZ utilizes modular furnishings to meet the needs of both day and night living, adds slide-outs in select plans, and bunk beds seem to be almost standard for units where big families are the client. Some units also include a rear hatch, so if you have an ATV, motorcycle, or other adventure gear, you can easily bring it along, and access should be a breeze.

Depending on the floorplan you eventually aim for, you can look forward to features and spaces like bathrooms with separate facilities, large wardrobes, a fully stocked galley, and plenty of overhead and floor-level storage. If that’s not enough to tickle your grey matter, each unit is fitted with plumbing, electrical, pumps, and the power source you need to keep things running smoothly. If you opt for solar power, all the better.

With you and the family finally out in the wild, you all take a minute to soak in the local view, turn to your mobile habitat, smile, and start to unload all that you brought along. With awnings in place, shade is provided to your outdoor dining setup, while the rear hatch reveals the gear you brought with you: kayaks, e-bikes, climbing gear, motorcycles, you name it. Other knick-knacks can be stored via the multiple hatches found outside the unit.

Everything in its place, you unleash the dog, let your kids run free as you’ve scoped out the local terrain, and you and the missus just kick back and enjoy the lake view. You take in a deep breath, and the smell of pine trees fills your nostrils as opposed to carbon emissions; yet another smile. Come to think of it, that entire extended weekend is bound to be filled with smiles, and part of that is because of KZ RV’s Escape travel trailers. Get moving.
