Is there anything that hasn't been said about the mighty Ford Mustang Shelby GT500? Why, of course not. This muscle car came out nearly five years ago and is now dead and buried, with the Blue Oval having an entirely new Mustang in its lineup.
Nevertheless, this ride keeps enthusiasts up at night, and you can quickly understand why when speaking about its magic numbers. To this day, it remains the Dearborn company's most powerful street-legal product ever made, and if you must know, it dwarfs even the mighty GT supercar.

Ford chose the supercharging recipe, so the Shelby GT500, part of the S550 Mustang generation, uses a supercharged 5.2L V8. It pumps out 627 pound-feet (847 Nm) of torque and puts 760 horsepower (771 ps/567 kW) under the driver's right foot. Should you ask Ford about the 0-60 mph (0-97 kph), they'll tell you it needs around three seconds, adding that it is a ten-second car down the quarter-mile, albeit with a perfect takeoff, as mastering all that power can be tricky.

Its size, performance, and thrust place it in the same league as the previous-gen Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat series, albeit not the two Demons, which are way punchier. The normal Demon is good for 840 hp (852 ps/627 kW) in its top form, and the Demon 170 that preceded it enjoys an unbelievable 1,025 hp (1,040 ps/765 kW), according to the automaker's numbers. It takes 1.66 seconds to 60 mph and runs the quarter mile in 8.91 seconds.

But what about the Camaro? Well, Chevy's muscle car is dead for now, and we cannot tell you when and in what form it will come back. Some say it might challenge (pun intended) Dodge's new Charger Daytona with EV power, probably joined by ICE power, whereas others believe it might stay true to internal combustion power, topped by a V8. The previous ZL1 was less punchy than the Hellcats (and Demons) and the GT500, as its 6.2L supercharged V8 'only' made 650 hp (659 ps/492 kW).

Now, what is all the fuss around these discontinued muscle cars? Well, they may be dead, but they're far from being buried. We've seen quite a few of them unleashed at drag strips all over the nation recently. Still, this story has nothing to do with quarter-mile times, as it is all about the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 reaching dizzying speeds on a no-speed-limit section of Germany's Autobahn.

This blue copy with white racing stripes was recently set loose there, and everything was recorded in POV style. Thus, if you are looking for a sign to take a short break, then this is it. Oh, and we've got to mention that the video, which is a little over eight minutes long, is not a review, so you won't hear the driver babble about this magnificent muscle car's ups and downs, as the only noise blasting through the speakers came from the V8.
