John Barrowman Crashes on Fifth Gear

The popular British actor who portrays Captain Jack Harkness in the tv series "Torchwood" was involved in a high speed accident with Fifth Gear's Tiff Needell. This happened while shooting for a Fifth Gear episode depicting a rally stage race in Powys, Walles.

The 42-year-old British actor was driving a rally spec Subaru Impreza worth almost 120,000 pounds. Barrowman was driving the Subaru while Tiff played the role of the co-pilot. The two seemed to be having great fun, until John lost control of the car at about 80 mph (128 km/h).

News of the World informs the car slid down a verge and flipped four times before stopping right near a lake at the bottom of a steep hill. The rescue team rushed to the scene of the accident and safely removed the two from the damaged vehicle. While no information regarding the state of tv presenter Tiff Needell was disclosed, actor John Barrowman was slightly injured.

Barrowman received medical attention on the spot, where he had shattered glass removed from his eye following the crash. He was then taken to hospital. Though both were wearing protective gear and helmets the crash proved to be pretty serious because of the rough terrain which flipped the car at 80 mph.

After the accident John Barrowman stated: “I'm lucky to walk away unscathed. I got a ticking off from my mum afterwards”. In a somewhat similar manner with his movie character who cannot die, Barrowman escaped the incident with only minor cuts and bruises.

The crash will be shown on Fifth Gear's upcoming episode on July 21.
