Jimmy Butler Is "Going Electric" Because Filling Up His Bugatti Is Too Expensive

When the going gets tough, even millionaires will feel the pinch. They might never feel it as badly as the average 9-to-5-er, but a pinch is still a pinch, even when you're sitting at the wheel of a Bugatti.
Or what you think is a Bugatti…

Miami Heat's Jimmy Butler, who has a net worth estimated at over $80 million and a car collection worthy of his status, reputation, and financial situation, is not ok with soaring gas prices. Who is, right?!

In fact, Butler is so upset about gas prices going up again that he took to his social media to rant about having to pay $145 to fill up the tank of his daily driver.

The two videos that went up live on Butler's Instagram Stories are compiled in the video below from sports journalist Brady Hawk's X (former Twitter). Hawk is joking that this is Butler at his most relatable because even he feels the average Joe and Jane's frustration at having to pay a small fortune at the pump just to get to where he needs to be.

"This is highway f***ing robbery," Butler says. "I’m trying to get some of this gas back. Wow. Do you think if I went in there and told them I put the wrong gas in here they would give me a refund? This is crazy. I’m going electric."

Hilariously, Butler is saying he has to pay $145 for a tank of gas for his Bugatti because “Bugattis, man!" As in, everyone knows that they're the cars with the worst fuel efficiency out there. Then again, when someone pays upwards of $3 million (Butler is reported to have bought a Chiron), the issue of rising gas prices isn't supposed to register.

But the most hilarious part is that Butler seems to be driving a Rolls-Royce, based on the double R on his steering wheel in the second video. To put this into perspective, he's complaining about rising gas prices (justifiably so) while he apparently owns so many cars that he forgot which one he took out for a drive. At least, that's how commenters online are talking about his snafu.

He could be trolling, though.

Cases of celebrities who live the ultimate one-percenter life trying to play the relatable card on social media are not as rare as one would like. Kim Kardashian, the billionaire reality star you couldn't get away from today unless you moved to another planet, recently shared a meme about rising gas prices just hours after she took a flight on her private jet of under 15 minutes instead of just driving there.

Celebrity millionaires, be they athletes, artists, or influencers, don't just feel the pinch differently from regular people. They also seem to lack completely any self-awareness or ability to read the room.
