About a week and a half ago, Subaru teased a new version of the 2011 Impreza WRX STI that was only destined for the Japanese Domestic Market. All we knew about the WRX STI tS (tuned by STI) was the fact that the car uses a carbon fiber roof.

Now, the Japanese carmaker is offering us the details of the four-wheel-drive delicacy. We are actually talking about two special editions of the car: the "WRX STI tS" and "WRX STI A-Line tS", which are based on the 4-door SUBARU WRX STI and WRX STI A-Line (automatic transmission model), respectively.

The vehicles come with weight-cutting components, including the aforementioned carbon roof and an aluminum hood. The list of goodies also includes a STI-tweaked suspension, 18-inch lightweight alloy rims, a new front bumper add-on element, an army of tS logos. The interiors have been fitted with Recaro seats, custom sill plates and others.

The new models are equipped with components including Flexible Rear Support and Rear Suspension Link, in addition to the front and rear Dampers and special Coil Springs tuned by the STI, Flexible Tower Bar front, and the Flexible Draw-Stiffeners that have been adopted to the R205 model released in 2010,” stated the press release.

The tS uses a twin-scroll turbocharged 2.0 liter Boxer unit that delivers 308 hp and a maximum torque of 430 Nm (317 lb-ft), which uses a five-speed manual gearbox. As for the A-Line tS, this comes with a single-scroll turbocharged 2.5 liter powerplant that produces 300 hp and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque, using a five-speed automatic transmission.

SUbaru will only bring 400 units of these creations to the world, with prices starting from 4,020,000 yen (EUR36,500 or $48,000).
