Pairing your phone to the car's sound systems is as an important task if you want to drive safely and avoid getting fined by the police.
But for people who aren't that into the digital world or haven't discovered all their car's features, this can be a bit daunting. Volkswagen has released a few videos detailing how to get our infotainment system and smartphone to talk to each other via Bluetooth.
First you'll need to switch the ignition on, which prompts the car to search for new devices for three minutes. The smartphone needs to have its Bluetooth turned on and it has to be set to visible, so other devices may see it. After that, it's pretty simple, as you'll see in the video below.
Once the devices are paired, the car will recognize your phone every time it comes into the car as long as it's got Bluetooth turned on.
The clips show how to do it on a 2014 US-market Passat, but the RNS510 and RNS850 navigation and entertainment system isn't all that new, so this should work the same an older models.
