Currently, the Fabia Estate vRS has carved out a niche of its own, being the only supermini-based hot estate currently on the market. All other similar offerings are from the class above. However, Renault have confirmed their interest in creating a hot version of the all-new Clio Estate.
Just such a car would make a lot of sense for the French manufacturer, and it would definitely boost the appeal of their entire range of RS-badged offerings - it would truly be unique, and it would definitely trump the Skoda on styling, handling and outright pace, thanks to a 20 hp advantage over the Czech car.
Anthony Lo, Renault’s head of exterior design said: “It’s down to planning [. . .] We could easily do it. We have all the bits and it’s something we’re looking at.” We hope this materializes into an actual car, or at least a concept for the time being, and if it matures into a production car, it is definitely something we’d love to drive.
