Honda Goes on Tour with blink-182 and My Chemical Romance

The passion Japanese manufacturer Honda seems to have developed for American music will once again translate into a music tour sponsored by the car maker. To be titled the 2011 Honda Civic Tour and meant to advertise Honda's new model, the tour will trek across the US, bringing to scenes in several cities blink-182 and My Chemical Romance.

Blink-182 is the band with which Honda started its music tours ten years ago. To celebrate the start of that let's call it movement, Honda will take the band in 40 locations, starting August 5 in Holmdel, New Jersey and ending October 15 in San Diego.

"With the tenth anniversary of the Civic tour and the launch of the all-new ninth generation Civic, the timing couldn't have been better to bring back one of the biggest bands from tours past," said Tom Peyton, Honda brand manager for American Honda.

"This year's lineup of blink-182 and My Chemical Romance is fun, exciting, hard-rocking and energetic - everything the Civic Tour has stood for over the past 10 years."

The production version of the new Civic was shown for the first time during the New York International Auto Show. The new version, which will be offered, as usual, in both sedan and hatch versions, will offer a wide range of engine choices (starting with the 201 horsepower 2.4l i-VTEC and ending with the dedicated natural gas variant of the 1.8l engine).

The launch of the new model, one of Honda's most successful ever, did not go without a hitch in the US. The car maker announced last week it would be recalling 1,156 model-year 2012 Civic because of a potential fuel leak.
