Japanese automaker Honda has announced the introduction of its new Amaze compact sedan to India.
Designed to rival similar Maruti Suzuki offerings, the Honda Amaze is available starting from Rs. 4.9 lakh (€6,870) and six petrol versions and four diesel variants. The compact sedan can be had in six exterior colors, including Urban Titanium Metallic, Carnelian Red Pearl and Taffeta White.

The most expensive trims, the petrol VX AT and the diesel VX will fetch Rs. 7.5 lakh (€10,541) and Rs. 7.6 lakh (€10,655) respectively. The 1.5-liter i-DTEC diesel-powered version will reportedly deliver 3.84 l/100km (73 mph).

"The Amaze is a critically important car for us. Not only that we are entering a new segment of entry level sedan, we are also introducing our first diesel engine here. It is a growing segment and this should help us grow," HCIL Senior Vice President (Sales and Marketing) Jnaneswar Sen said.

The Honda Amaze is 3,990 mm long and sports a wheelbase which is 60 mm longer that the one the Brio hatch it's base on.
