We are talking about the Colorado 4x2 Single Cab and Crew Cab pickup models (the LX and LT-R versions), that use Holden’s dual-fuel LPG Alloytec V6 engine, which promises to bring important fuel bill savings.
The powerplant, which meets Euro 4 emissions standards, comes with an output of 210 hp and and 300 Nm, offering the vehicles a towing capacity of two and a half tones. The unit uses the Sequential Vapour Gas Injection (SVGI) technology that injects gas directly into the engine's intake manifold.
The 4x2 Cab Chassis has been fitted with a 56-liter cylindrical LPG tank, which was installed between the chassis rails, while the Crew Cab model uses a 76 liter toroidal tank located in the spare wheel casing.
When using LPG power, the vehicles offer a fuel efficiency of 16.7 liters/100 km or14.8 mpg (manual) and 17.2 liters per 100 km or 13.7 mpg (automatic). The LPG system can be yours for AU$3,850 and comes with a three year/100,000 km (62,000 miles) warranty.
“We think the introduction of the LPG option to the Colorado range is a clear advantage for the customer,” Holden Director of Marketing Philip Brook said.”Customers have the space, power and performance that they need while slashing their fuel bill in a big way.”
“LPG is widely available across Australia and perhaps most importantly gives customers access to heavy duty truck benefits with small car running costs,” the executive added.
