Holden Debuts Caprice V Series and Series II

Australian manufacturer Holden has just introduced the revised WM Series II range, marking the debut of the Holden Caprice V-Series and the Caprice Series II. Both models come with enhanced comfort and safety features, as well as with improved fuel economy.

Taken separately, the Caprice V-Series uses a 6.0-liter V8 engine that produces 349 horsepower. Mated to a six-speed Active Select automatic transmission, the engine has a fuel consumption of 12.3l/100/km (19.1 mpg).

The V-Series features a sunroof, exclusive full Nappa leather trim and interior appointments, dual-screen rear DVD (which also plays through the Holden-iQ touch screen when the car is stationary), a Bose premium audio system and Tri-zone climate control.

On the other hand, the Series II uses a SIDI V6 direct-injection engine coupled with the same transmission as the V-Series, which is capable of producing 282 horsepower and has a fuel consumption of 9.9l/100km (23.7 mpg). The car also comes with a new touch-screen Holden-iQ System
interface that includes a virtual CD collection, fully integrated iPod connectivity, MP3 player, USB flash drive, Bluetooth connectivity, full colour mapping satellite navigation with traffic alerts and a rear view camera.

“Market research consistently told us that the Caprice nameplate, with its definite sports luxury character, appealed to a far broader customer base,” Holden Executive Director of Sales, Marketing and Aftersales John Elsworth said in a release.

“We believe that presenting a choice of two models which share the same strong brand appeal but differ in specification will now make the step up to Caprice from its short-wheelbase siblings such as the Calais V, a more natural move for many buyers.”

Each car is available in a wide range of body colors, including Alto Grey, Mirage Glow beige and Sizzle metallic red, as well as Heron white, Karma metallic blue, Nitrate metallic silver, and Phantom metallic black. Pricing, however, has not been disclosed by the manufacturer yet.
