A single-level layout can seem too simplistic, but ingenious design is a game-changer. Seemingly modest and minimalistic, this modern cabin with a separate bedroom turns out to be remarkably cozy, comfortable, and perfectly equipped for a busy urban lifestyle.
Most people prefer a main-floor bedroom instead of a loft that requires the addition of a ladder or a staircase. Still, this type of bedroom might seem incompatible with smaller houses on wheels where space limitations are more obvious.

The beautiful Coastal Cabin by St Clair Homes, a New Zealand-based brand, showcases a clever solution to make that work. We're talking about a highly versatile open-plan configuration where the kitchen, lounge, and dining room merge into one while the bedroom and the bathroom stay separate. This way, dwellers can enjoy the privacy and coziness of a luxurious main bedroom, as well as the functionality of a perfectly equipped kitchen, all within the limits of an affordable tiny that's also easy to maintain.

The basic Coastal Cabin by St Clair Homes is just eight meters (26 feet) long and three meters (9.8) wide. Elegant French doors lead straight into the home's main area, which is a lounge and a kitchen at the same time. Thanks to this atypical configuration, the Coastal Cabin boasts a surprisingly spacious kitchen considering its overall size. The U shape adds generous counter space and also allows ample storage underneath, including for some of the appliances.

Breakfast bars are a common feature inside New Zealand-designed tiny homes, but this one comes with a twist. It's the unusual placement that makes it stand out. It would typically be added at the opposite end of the countertop, facing the main entry. In this case, it creates a more intimate dining nook while still getting plenty of natural light.

The kitchen is packed with all the basics, including a range hood, which makes the Coastal Cabin perfectly modern. Plus, storage is far better than what you'd expect with a cabin this size, and there are even multiple overhead cabinets. Opting for all-white kitchen furniture makes the entire area brighter and also mimics the clean, welcoming style of a traditional farmhouse.

This part of the house also boasts enough space for a classic living room setup with a sofa and a couple of cabinets, although there's no formal separation between the kitchen and the lounge. Future owners are basically free to configure this area in any way they wish.

It's perfectly suitable for multi-purpose design. For instance, it could be used as a typical living room and as an additional sleeping area or as a home office during the day and a spacious entertainment area for guests. When the weather is right, the main doors can simply slide and let the outdoors in, turning this entire part of the house into a resort-like indoor/outdoor living area.

One of the best parts of this particular layout is that it allows full privacy and extra comfort for the main bedroom. This room is discretely separated from the rest of the house, and it's big enough to fit in a two-person bed and extra furniture for convenient storage. Large windows are strategically placed to offer wonderful views day and night and to keep this cozy cocoon filled with sunshine.

At the very end of the house, the Coastal Cabin reveals its tiny bathroom. This is indeed the most compact room in the entire dwelling, yet it still manages to squeeze in all the modern basics. It comes with a standard toilet (which can be replaced with an eco-friendly option), a full-size shower cubicle, and an adorable, extra-tiny sink with a quirky shape.

Perfect for two, this stylish and versatile cabin on wheels could also be a great option for vacation rentals. It boasts all the qualities of a romantic getaway while also being perfectly equipped for year-round living in full comfort.

This remarkably modern cabin isn't all about looks. It comes on a sturdy, high-quality trailer made in-house, and it boasts a lightweight steel frame that was built using advanced computerized cutting technology. This frame was meant to be light enough to ensure easy transportation, one of the main benefits of opting for a mobile home in the first place, but also be sturdy enough to withstand harsh conditions and successfully pass the test of time.

Plus, all the cabins built by St Clair Homes come with Eco-wool insulation for the walls and ceiling and underfloor high-quality Expol insulation. They are designed to be completely weatherproof and keep the perfect indoor atmosphere even during the most challenging New Zealand weather conditions.

In terms of cladding and flooring, customers have multiple choices adapted to their preferences and budget. Sliding doors and large windows are specifically added in order to maximize views and ensure much-needed cross-ventilation. The beautiful Coastal Cabins with one or two main-floor bedrooms come in several floor plans and are particularly adapted for indoor/outdoor living in natural settings.
