Everyone is currently waiting for the all-new generation 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor (going live on February 3rd, 11 a.m. EST), so the hype wave is already at tsunami levels. That is also great for the small companies trying to make a living out of specific niches. Case in point, the armoring technology experts from AddArmor.
The Jackson, Wyoming-based company says it has the most highly experienced “combat, business, and law enforcement veterans from the world's most elite organizations” and they are using their skills and expertise alongside “the lightest, strongest, most advanced armoring technology.” As such, in order to protect the good guys from the “bad guys,” they are turning vehicles into “mobile safe rooms.”
In their description, they also talk about “regular vehicles,” such as family or work cars. Sure, when it comes to full protection packages, that term is probably used loosely, and it doesn’t necessarily refer to your regular Chevy Impala or a Ford F-150.
Speaking of the latter, AddArmor’s latest creation – according to Ford Authority – doesn't even wear just the Blue Oval badge anymore because the armoring company jumped directly into the inventory of one very famous Texas tuner and snatched a Hennessey VelociRaptor 600 Twin Turbo from there.
We already know Hennessey’s VelociRaptors to be some of the greatest performance pickup trucks in America, irrespective of the build. The Houston-based aftermarket specialist offers VelociRaptor builds on both the Ranger and the F-150 (the latter with either twin-turbo or V8 upgrades).
As far as the VelociRaptor 600 is concerned, it already sports 600 hp and 622 lb-ft (843 Nm) of twist, along with a raft of other upgrades designed to ensure outstanding street (0-60 mph in 4.2s or a quarter mile-time of 12.9s) and off-road (3-inch/7.62-cm lift, among others) performance.
Not to mention the looks, which make the VelociRaptor 600 Twin Turbo easy to recognize from just about every angle. So, it turns out that AddArmor decided to enhance the one area that isn’t touched by Hennessey – by making it bulletproof.
Better yet, the company isn’t making use of thick, ugly, and heavy steel plates to achieve the desired outcome. Instead, the VelociRaptor has been allegedly added to the company’s expanding roster of “Full Protection Package” vehicles by way of using AddArmor’s “lightest armor available in the world.”
Their material, which takes vehicles to B4, B5, B6, and (in extreme cases) even to B7 protection levels, is said to be lighter than conventional armor “by up to 60%,” and the technology should be “pound for pound ten times stronger than ballistic steel.”
As far as we’re concerned, we really like that Hennessey’s VelociRaptor doesn’t look any bulkier than it already is, while those flashing red and blue lights certainly fit the overall package like a charm.
