A forbidden fruit in the United States prior to the 2024 model year, the Ranger Raptor is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 in this part of the world. Available with a four-cylinder diesel in a number of markets, the Ranger Raptor for the US of A develops a mighty 405 horsepower and 430 pound-feet (583 Nm) at the crank as long as you fill 'er up with 91 octane.
How much of that gets to the wheels? The folks at Hennessey Performance Engineering are much obliged to answer that question with a short video starring a bone-stock Ranger Raptor that shows only 132.2 miles (213 kilometers) on the odometer.

Be it the 2.3-liter EcoBoost, the punchier 2.7-liter EcoBoost, or the Raptor-specific 3.0er, the owner's manual for the 2024 Ford Ranger says that you shouldn't tow during the first 1,000 miles (1,600 kilometers). Owners are further advised to refrain from driving too fast or at constant speeds for prolonged periods in the first 1,000 miles and to break in the tires for 300 miles (480 kilometers).

That being said, Hennessey's baseline numbers for the Raptor in rear-wheel-drive mode are 349.20 horsepower at 5,390 revolutions per minute and 402.68 pound-feet (546 Nm) at 3,220 revolutions per minute. In other words, that's 86.2 and 93.6 percent of the advertised crankshaft numbers.

Why did Hennessey strap this fellow onto the dyno? The reason is VelociRaptor 500, a go-faster package introduced by the Texas-based company in May 2023. As implied, Hennessey Performance Engineering targets 500 horsepower. Max torque is 550 pound-feet (746 Nm), and these figures wouldn't have been possible without a Hennessey-specific engine management software upgrade.

Software is only half the story, though. The list of upgrades also includes high-flow air induction and better cooling in the form of a larger intercooler. Originally slated to enter production in the fourth quarter of 2024, the VelociRaptor 500 package is priced at $24,950 over the MSRP of the Raptor.

$24,950 plus $55,470 for the dune-bashing midsizer and the $1,595 destination charge means $82,015 at the very least, which is a helluva lot of money. Looking at the glass half full, those $24,950 charged by HPE also get you Hennessey-specific wheels, a VelociRaptor front bumper with LED lights, a VelociRaptor rear bumper, Hennessey embroidered headrests, and an assortment of exterior badges.

HPE also sweetens the deal with serialized plaques in the engine compartment and for the interior. The VelociRaptor 500 is limited to 200 units for the 2024 model year, and each build is backed up by a three-year/36,000-mile limited warranty. In metric, that would be a little under 60,000 kilometers.

Because the Ranger Raptor is joined at the hip to the Bronco Raptor, it should come as no surprise that Hennessey can work its magic on the Braptor as well. In the off-road sport utility vehicle's case, the VelociRaptor 500 package starts at $28,950.
