The MINI ALL4 Racing seems to be simply unstoppable at the moment, the car dominating the Dakar Rally earlier this year and now doing the same in the FIA World Cup for Cross Country Rallies.
Halfway through the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge, the MINI ALL4 Racing driven by Vladimir Vasilyev (Russia) is leading the pack with two other similar cars following in the top ten, with Stephan Schott (Deutschland) in sixth and Erik van Loon (Netherlands) in seventh.

The Dakar Rally 2014 winner, Joan ‘Nani’ Roma led the competition by more than 11 minutes after the first leg but had to retire due to medical problems. That opened up a spot for the Russian that swept in quickly with a win in the second and third legs, extending his lead to 9 minutes of runner up Marek Dabrovski.

The Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge will end tomorrow and is the third round of the FIA World Cup for Cross Country Rallies. Just 10 days separate this event from the next that is set to take place at the Sealine Cross Country Rally between April 20 - 25, in Qatar.

In November 2013, the X-raid Team won the FIA World Cup for Cross Country Rallies for the sixth time in a row. With Vasilyev leading the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge he is in a promising position to also claim the overall lead in the World Cup standings.
