Part of the FIA World Cup for Cross Country Rallies, the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge is up next in the calendar, set to start on April 6th. The fourth race of this year’s calendar will be featuring a strong MINI contingent in which we’ll also find the 2014 Dakar winner, Joan ‘Nani’ Roma.
Previous races saw MINI teams on the podium, like the second stage in Russia where local favorite Vladimir Vasilyev managed to finish second behind the wheel of his MINI ALL4 Racing car based on the MINI JCW Countryman.

In the 3rd stage of the season, that was hosted by Italy, the Russian finished fourth while his young team-mate, Martin Kaczmarski (Poland) finished right behind him in both events (fourth and fifth).

At Abu Dhabi we’ll be seeing even more MINI ALL4 Racing cars, the X-Raid team having 6 cars set up for the desert challenges. One of them will be driven by Nani, who is making a comeback behind the wheel of a rally car after the 2014 Dakar Rally. He’s entering the race as defending champion as he won last year’s challenge in the Arabian desert.

Since the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge is pretty similar to the Dakar Rally, the Spanish champion is a favorite in the 2,015.8 kilometer race. Let’s wish him luck!
