It’s no secret that even the stock Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is one of the most exciting production cars to race down a road or drag strip. But because of all the hidden potential, the nameplate hasn’t been made to remain stock, so there are a lot of options out there to make it meaner that the factory dared make it.
Hennessey is one of those tuners who chose to uptick the Hellcat, bringing it close to hypercar territory. The Texas-based garage has three Challenger SRT packages now on the market, but by far the most potent is the HPE1000 that translates into a 1,000 horsepower Challenger Hellcat Redeye.

Shown on the dyno back in March screaming like crazy, the car, dubbed by its maker the “most powerful, quickest and fastest muscle car,” features a 2.65-liter supercharger system on top of the 6.2-liter supercharged V8, working together with several other enhancements to get the power and thrill levels up.

The numbers provided by Hennessey show the monster can do the quarter mile in under 11 seconds, reaching as much as 131 mph (211 kph) while doing so.

These figures are great, true, but until this week we lacked a human reaction to them. Thankfully, one of the first customers to get his hands on one was given a tour on a track, with him riding shotgun.

The clip (available below) is rather short, but all the footage of the man riding shotgun, shows how his jaw drops whenever the car accelerates, and the only things he’s able to say are yays and nays in various forms every now and then.

He seems to get a grip of himself once the ride is over, and it is then when he throws some arrows in the general direction of his Corvette-owning friends.

“I’ve got a bunch of friends that drive Corvettes, and I’ve got them scared now,” he says.
