Honda's Prologue has yet to hit the assembly line in Mexico, at the General Motors factory in Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila. Still, the automaker says the first units will start arriving at dealers in the United States this spring, nearly one and a half years after the official unveiling.
But what is the Honda Prologue? If you've missed our initial coverage, you are looking at the brand's first electric crossover in America. It makes use of the same platform underpinning other zero-emission models from GM, including the Chevy Blazer EV, Equinox EV, Buick Electra E4, Electra E5, and Cadillac Lyriq.
With this out of the way, it is time to move on to the pricing, which Honda has just announced. The 2024 Prologue will come in three trim levels. The base EX and mid-range Touring will be offered with single 2WD and dual motor AWD setups, and the top-of-the-line Elite will get a bi-motor assembly.
The EX carries an MSRP of $47,400 for the 2WD and $50,400 for the AWD, the Touring comes from $51,700 and $54,700, and the Elite becomes available from $57,900, excluding the $1,395 destination charge. This makes it $9,135 cheaper in the base configuration than the Chevy Blazer EV and $11,190 more affordable than the Cadillac Lyriq.
The two-wheel drive models feature a front-mounted electric motor that generates 212 horsepower (215 ps/158 kW) and 236 pound-feet (320 Nm) of torque. The all-wheel drive versions get a 288 horsepower (292 ps/215 kW) and 333 pound-feet (451 Nm) dual-motor arrangement.
All versions feature an 85 kWh battery pack that can add 65 miles (105 km) of range in around 10 minutes and supports charging at up to 150 kW. The single-motor EX and Touring have a 296-mile (476 km) range on a full charge. The dual-motor versions can do 281 miles (452 km), and the Elite has an EPA rating of 273 miles (439 km).
Unfortunately, Honda wasn't keen on dropping details about the equipment list in the press release announcing the 2024 Prologue's pricing and range. However, a quick look on the official website reveals that the 2WD and AWD versions of the EX come with Google built-in services, a wireless charging pad for compatible smartphones, and blind-zone steering assist.
Curious what the Touring brings? That would be front and rear parking assist, a leather-trimmed interior, and a Bose premium audio system with 12 speakers, regardless of whether it is the two-wheel drive or the all-wheel drive model. Last but certainly not least, the top-of-the-line Elite, which is only available with the bi-motor setup as we already told you, rides on 21-inch alloys and benefits from a head-up display and ventilated and heated seats for the driver and front passenger.
