Excluding the $1,350 destination freight charge, Genesis Motor North America confirmed the starting price of the 2025 GV80 facelift as being $57,700. The problem is, the starting MSRP in the attached press release doesn't match that of the configurator.
The reason for this apparent mistake is availability. More specifically, the $57,700 GV80 2.5T Standard AWD will become available sometime in the summer, leaving the $58,700 GV80 2.5T AWD as the most affordable specification available at launch. The question is, how much of a difference does $1,000 make in terms of standard equipment?

Glad you've asked! The better-equipped trim builds on the Standard with the likes of a heated steering wheel, a temporary spare tire, a 110-volt power outlet for the second-row occupants, manual sunshades for the rear side windows, and Genesis Digital Key. As for what comes standard in the… uhm… Standard, highlights include self-leveling rear suspension, power-folding mirrors with puddle lamps that project the Genesis logo, leatherette seating surfaces, heated power front seats with four-way lumbar adjustments, a wireless device charger, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The fine print reads late availability for wireless CarPlay and Auto. As implied by the 2.5T and AWD in 2.5T Standard AWD, a four-cylinder turbo designed by Hyundai and all-wheel-drive from Magna. Stepping up to the GV80 3.5T Prestige AWD results in the addition of a rear electronic limited-slip differential from GKN.

Speaking of which, the Prestige with the twin-turbo sixer is an eye-watering $79,300 at the moment of reporting. Other than said electronic limited-slip diff, it sweetens the deal over the Advanced trim level with 22-inch alloys, Nappa leather seats, microfiber suede on the pillars and for the headliner, ventilated and power second-row seats, a heated front console armrest, Active Noise Control, power door closure, power rear door sunshades, three-zone climate control, and second-row vanity mirrors.

Based on the rear-biased platform of the G80 sedan, the GV80 sport utility vehicle uses an eight-speed automatic transmission across the board. The lowly four-pot mill belts out 300 horsepower and 311 pound-feet (422 Nm), whereas the 3.5-liter six improves to 375 horsepower and 391 pound-feet (530 Nm). For some reason or another, the hugely popular GV80 isn't available with the 3.5T E-Supercharger V6 of the G90 full-size luxury sedan.

E-Supercharger is the short way of saying electric supercharger powered by a mild-hybrid system. In the aforementioned G90, it belts out a stout 409 horsepower and 405 pound-feet (550 Nm). The reasoning behind the electric supercharger is rather simple: extra low-end torque. The turbos, meanwhile, enter the scene at higher engine speeds.

The refreshed GV80 will be joined by the GV80 Coupe later this year, with the latter being a direct rival to the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe and BMW X6. Pricing isn't available right now, but we do know that the GLE Coupe and X6 retail at $89,800 for the AMG 53 and $74,500 for the xDrive40i.

However, in stark comparison to Genesis, the German utility vehicles are produced in the United States and can be specified with V8 muscle. Surpassing the 600-horsepower mark does come at a price, though, with the GLE 63 retailing at $127,700 and the X5 M Competition at $124,800.
