A little over a year after it went on sale in the United States, the Genesis G90 is getting ready to arrive at dealers in Europe. Hyundai's premium car marque has announced that the luxury sedan will go on sale in Germany and Switzerland on September 26, with the leasing options launching at a later date.
Designed as the Korean brand's rival to the likes of the Mercedes S-Class, BMW 7 Series, and Audi A8, the 2023 Genesis G90 is available in two versions on the right side of the pond: normal and long wheelbase. For the former, customers are looking at €115,000 (equal to $122,756) in Germany and 129,300 CHF ($144,141) in Switzerland. The latter starts at €125,000 ($133,430) and 139,400 CHF ($155,400), respectively.
By comparison, a brand-new Mercedes-Benz S-Class will cost you a bit less. The model is listed on the local website from €111,729.10 ($119,264). BMW's 7 Series kicks off at €116,000 ($123,823), and for the base Audi A8, customers have to fork out at least €101,900 ($108,772). In the United States, the Genesis G90 carries an MSRP of $88,400 and is available with two powertrains, the 3.5T AWD and 3.5T E-Supercharger AWD, with 375 and 409 horsepower, respectively.
Powering the European specification is a single lump, the 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 gasoline unit equipped with a 48-volt electric supercharger. The total system output is rated at 415 ps (409 hp/305 kW), and it is good for 549 Nm (405 lb-ft) of torque. The all-wheel-drive system is standard no matter which version you opt for, and it is an eight-speed automatic transmission that delivers the thrust to both axles.
Besides deciding which wheelbase length suits their needs better, with the longer variant offering an extra 190 mm (7.5 in) of legroom, customers can also choose between ten exterior colors, five interior colorways, and six garnishes. Both models are well equipped, sporting stuff such as the Ergo Motion seats with heating, cooling, and massage functions, two 10.2-inch touchscreen displays, and an 8-inch screen used to operate the climate control, adjust the ambient lighting, set the sunblind position, and access the massage settings and seating position.
Its future owners can brag about their 2023 G90 having an onboard fragrance system, a UV-C light disinfection compartment, a Mood Curator, a 12.3-inch infotainment system, an equally-sized digital instrument cluster, fingerprint authentication, premium audio from Bang & Olufsen, wood trim, and many others. The brand's flagship sedan also comes with a host of safety systems, including lane-change oncoming, rear blind spot collision avoidance assist, forward collision avoidance assist, blind spot view monitor, surround view monitor, and others.
