You get to choose a lot of things when you're the main driver of the reigning Formula One team, but when it comes to team sponsors, nobody will ask for your opinion.
Your job is to drive and win, while theirs is to provide the immense influx of cash needed to run the ridiculously expensive racing outfit. It's as simple as that. Your paths may never cross more than once or twice a year, and that's for various events featured in the contract. As some very wise penguins used to say, just smile and wave, and it will soon be over.

However, if you're really unlucky, you might get asked to feature in one of their commercials, and it really seems like this isn't Lewis Hamilton's year. Not only is he in the situation where it would take a miracle to catch up to his teammate Nico Rosberg in the F1 standings, but he was also asked to be part of the worst commercial we've seen in a while.

A cringe-fest - there's no other way to describe what you are bout to see. It's hard to tell what went through the minds of those who came up with this ad, but it sure wasn't winning an advertising award - or at least producing a clip that's not painful to watch.

The thing with these associations between brands that have nothing to do with Formula One or cars in general and racing pilots is that the connections can sometimes feel forced. Epson is great at making printers and Hamilton has proven to be more than a decent driver, but apart from that contract, the two have absolutely no common ground. I mean, Lewis may own an Epson printer back home, who knows, but that's that.

You can tell they went for a "funny" approach, but it didn't work. Actually, it backfired, making the whole video an awful experience for anyone willing ot part with 75 seconds of their lives. Actually, you might want to see this just so you'll know what to answer to the question "what is the worst YouTube clip you've watched lately?" Yes, it's that bad, and that voice over guy will stay with you for a few days just like a scary monster from a horror movie when you were little.
