The latest generation Transit / Tourneo Custom is available as a campervan straight from Ford. The model in question is called the Nugget and is pretty much the American company's antidote to the Volkswagen California.
Ford's Transit / Tourneo Custom Nugget has sleeping accommodations for four people, who can cook their meals and store their gear onboard. It also features a fold-out table, 180-degree rotating front seats, a sink with hot water, a gas stove, a drawer fridge, and additional goodies that are bound to make life away from home comfortable.

There are various powertrains available for the Nugget, including a 168 horsepower (170 ps/125 kW) 2.0-liter diesel and a plug-in hybrid, which is basically the icing on the cake. The electrified mill mixes an electric motor with a 2.5-liter gasoline mill for a combined output of 229 hp (232 ps/171 kW). It has an 11.8 kWh battery pack that gives it 31 miles (50 km) of electric range when fully juiced up.

It appears that the regular Nugget seemed a bit too bland for Delta4x4's sister company Loder1899. As a result, they set out to make it more rugged, at least on paper, as these are official renderings of the actual vehicle that will presumably launch sometime in the near future.

Compared to the regular Transit Custom on which it builds, it features a jacked-up suspension that has increased the ground clearance by 80 mm (3.2 in). The campervan rides on 18-inch wheels wrapped in 255/55 all-terrain tires, features a bulbar with two additional lights up front, more lights attached to the roof rack, and a few other things that will certainly come in handy off the beaten path, including an all-wheel drive system.

Further setting it apart from the standard Transit Custom are the wheel arch extensions and the two-tone finish mixing brown with black. The campervan can carry additional gear on the roof, including a full-size spare wheel, next to the pop-up tent that features a ladder for easy access. The tinted windows provide some well-deserved privacy to those inside.

Unfortunately, Delta4x4 hasn't released images of the cockpit and living space, but we can assume that it has a kitchenette, additional storage spaces, and some other amenities, including maybe additional sleeping accommodations inside. Mind you, that's what we think, and it's based on nothing, so you may want to take this alleged information with a pinch of salt.

Delta4x4 hasn't said anything else about this project, though it encourages those interested in turning their Ford Transit / Tourneo Custom into a campervan to get in touch with them. If you do, don't forget to drop a line below and tell us how much the conversion costs and what it includes.
