Autonomous vehicles are grabbing a lot of attention lately, with several manufacturers having already promised to deliver self-driving automobiles.
Nissan and General Motors claim they will introduce the first models by 2020, while Volvo is getting ready to launch project “Drive Me”, which will consist of 100 autonomous vehicles that will travel in and around Gothenburg, Sweden. Meanwhile, Honda is working on a driverless valet parking system.

Goggle, also supposed to be working on a self-driving car, has yet to reveal anything, but Ford has just introduced their very own project - the automated Ford Fusion Hybrid research vehicle. Developed in collaboration with the University of Michigan and State Farm, this experimental vehicle is part of automaker’s Blueprint for Mobility plan.

The automated Fusion Hybrid is fitted with four LiDAR infrared sensors that scan the road 2.5 million times every second, and an infrared light emitted that allows it to draw a picture of everything within 200 feet to create a map of its surroundings. Ford says the sensors are able to tell the difference between a paper bag and a small animal from a football field away.
