Ford Racing has released a new video featuring their brand new 363 cubic inch crate engine while being put through a dyno test.
Developed to deliver more low-end torque, the engine was fitted with a Holley Street Avenger carburetor, an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake and an MSD 8596 billet distributor.

“We’re looking at various ways to dress this long-block, and it’s the age-old argument of do you want to argue a peak horsepower number, or do you want to look at something that’s a bit more streetable?” said Tom Detloff, Ford Racing engine engineer.

“So what we do is test a number of different combinations before we just settle on one. If you look at our M-6007-Z363 long-block, the power numbers were achieved with a Holley HP750 carburetor and Edelbrock Super Victor intake manifold. That gets us a nice healthy 500 horsepower peak number, but for the guy who’s looking to drive this engine around on the street, we get questions all the time about what parts to use for the best streetability," he added.

And while the Performer RPM cost the engine about 35 hp on the top end, it added about 45 to 50 pound-feet of low-end torque for an output of 400 lb-ft between 3,000-6,000 rmp, he noted.
