Nowadays, the aftermarket itch is greater than ever, with one of the tuners that take full advantage of the market boom being Hennessey. The Texan developer's latest video brings the Mustang Shelby GT350R back under the spotlights, showcasing the basic pack for the pony.
This is the mail order upgrade, to use the official designation of the kit, which consists of a cold air intake and an ECU remap. John Hennessey explains that a qualified mechanic, or somebody with basic car massaging experience, needs about one hour to fit the track-savvy machine with the kit.

The result? The 5.2-liter naturally aspirated VooDoo V8 heart of the Blue Oval demon went from 460 hp and 385 lb-ft of twist to 490 hp and 411 lb-ft of torque - keep in mind that we're talking about the values at the wheels.

If, however, you're planning to gift your circuit-ready Ford with a more serious upgrade, you could go for the HPE575 package (the nameplate shows the estimated hp at the crank), which also includes long tube exhaust headers, which also has an important impact on the flat-plane soundtrack delivered by the 'Stang.

Of course, there's always the HPE800 kit, which sees the pony going down the supercharging route, but that's another story for another time.

And while we did bring you here to talk Mustang matters, we have to remind you that, when discussing Hennessey this season, the focus is on the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.

The Lone Star State Developer has just announced a full line-up for the Corvette Z06-engined muscle car, as we wrote earlier today.

We're dealing with a five-step package, one that sees things being dialed all the way to 1,000 ponies - tire manufacturers must be really, really excited right now and here's to hoping your local track stays open for the cold season.
