2016 is almost upon us, yet Ford isn’t exactly ready to pop the champagne. As it happens, the Blue Oval is greeting us for Christmas with a flurry of safety and safety compliance recalls. Four recalls, to be more specific. Care to guess which Ford nameplate makes up the first?
Yup, you’ve guessed it! No less than 312,814 examples of the Ford Crown Victoria and sister model Mercury Grand Marquis need replacement lighting control modules. According to the Detroit-based manufacturer, the solder joints of the module are prone to cracking, thus interrupting power to the headlamps.

Affected vehicles were built from October 3, 2001 through August 2, 2005, at the St. Thomas Assembly Plant. The automaker is aware of 11 reports of accidents and a single report of a minor injury related to this apparently minor defect.

Moving on to the second of four recalls, we have bad news for those who own 2016 Ford F-650 and F-750 vehicles because 177 examples of these medium-duty work trucks need replacement rear air brake chambers. An internal investigation revealed that the air brake jounce hoses could make contact with the rear axle housing when the vehicle is operated.

This condition could cause a leak, thus diminishing braking performance and increasing the risk of a crash. Those 177 trucks were built at the Ohio Assembly Plant from June 18, 2015 through November 15, 2015. Fortunately, no accidents or injuries are related to this issue.

Ford also issued a safety recall for 1,265 Ford Transit dual-rear-wheel vehicles from the 2015 model year. These workhorses are in dire need of replacement rear axle shafts because the original shafts are prone to fracture. The affected dual-rear-wheel full-size vans were built between May 1, 2015 and June 26, 2015, at the Kansas City Assembly Plant.

As for the safety compliance recall, the Blue Oval informs us that the 2015 Ford F-150 SuperCrew needs a redesigned safety belt retractor and pretensioner assembly for the driver and front passenger. 3,218 units of the light-duty pickup truck need it, trucks built between January 22, 2015 and March 17, 2015. We advise you to visit this website if you wish to find out if there are recalls or service actions on your Ford vehicle.
