An internal investigation revealed that the air brake jounce hoses could make contact with the rear axle housing when the vehicle is operated.
This condition could cause a leak, thus diminishing braking performance and increasing the risk of a crash. Those 177 trucks were built at the Ohio Assembly Plant from June 18, 2015 through November 15, 2015. Fortunately, no accidents or injuries are related to this issue.
Ford also issued a safety recall for 1,265 Ford Transit dual-rear-wheel vehicles from the 2015 model year. These workhorses are in dire need of replacement rear axle shafts because the original shafts are prone to fracture. The affected dual-rear-wheel full-size vans were built between May 1, 2015 and June 26, 2015, at the Kansas City Assembly Plant.
