In the drag racing world, there’s no such thing as taking some time off for Christmas. Oh no. The 1,320 feet scene is alive and kicking these days, with the latest feat coming from a 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 that has descended into the 10s quarter mile area.
The 5.2-liter flat-plane V8 under the hood did receive a visit from Santa, though. As a result, the VooDoo was fitted with a 15o shot of nitrous, a cold air intake, a custom mid-pipe, as well as a tune.

The GT350, which was massaged by Lethal Performance, is claimed to have 612 ponies at the rear wheels.

With the factory rubber having been ditched for MT drag radials, the ‘Stang managed to pull a 10.98s run at 125 mph (201 km/h).

The drag racing world is currently in the midst of a war between the Camaro and the Mustang. This has led to extreme measures, such as a 2016 Camaro SS being gifted with nitrous after just 200 miles of ownership. That Camaro was obviously taken to the drag strip, causing a bit of a stir with its 10.6s quarter mile time - you can check out this story for more on that topic.

While it might look like the Mustang has already lost the war, we wouldn’t rush to conclusions. First of all, these are tuned cars, which haven’t even been raced against each other. And since you thankfully can’t have the Shelby with a torque converter, don’t expect it to be the star here.

And let’s not forget we have non-Shelby S550 Mustangs that play in the 9s arena these days. Last time we checked, the record sat at 9.59 seconds for the 1/4-mile.

We can hear Ford Performance engineers who are in on the S550 Shelby GT500 giggling in the background when we mention the Camaro battle, so please try to focus on the footage below.
