Word has it Ford plans to produce its current F-150 pickup truck alongside the next-generation model for about half a year in order to avoid disrupting sales in the United States.
Even though no company representative has confirmed the rumor, the news doesn’t come as a surprise since Ford wants to be sure its best-selling truck is available without interruption. If the report proves to be true, it means that the current-generation F-150 will remain in production until the end of 2014, six months after the 2015 Ford F-150 starts being assembled in July next year.

Little is known about the next-generation Ford F-150, which is rumored to hit the market weighing about 700 pounds less when compared to the outgoing version thanks to extensive use of aluminum and lightweight materials.

The 2015 ford F-150 was previewed by the Atlas concept at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show in January.
