Word has it Ford will produce a limited edition next-generation Mustang to celebrate the musclecar’s 50th anniversary. The vehicle will be built in just 1,000 examples as part of the 2014.5 model, which will be the first Mustang to sit on the new S550 platform.
This is not the first time when an anniversary 2014.5 Mustang is being rumored, but the company’s last year statement war retracted shortly, being labeled as a confusion. However, our friend over at Mustangs Daily claim, quoting inside sources at Ford, that the limited edition 2014.5 Mustang is still in the works.
Little is known about the 50th Anniversary model at this point, but the vehicles are expected to arrive with a special VIN and build number, a 5.0-liter V8 engine rated at about 450 HP, but without any high-performance features.
