What do Fiat and Mickey Mouse have in common? The name. Topolino means "baby” or "little mouse" in Italian and is the nickname they use in the country for the iconic Disney character. The moniker was originally given to the Fiat 500 in 1936 due to its mouse-like appearance. Now, they have one more thing in common: five adorable electric cars wearing Mickey Mouse-inspired liveries.
The Walt Disney Company is celebrating its centenary in 2023, and we've seen plenty of brands paying homage to the company's 100 years in the entertainment business with special products. Fiat is joining the ranks with five special-edition versions of the Topolino electric quadricycle inspired by the beloved cartoon character.

The five one-off Fiat Topolinos bring together the worlds of entertainment and mobility once more, and each of them features a different artwork, with different themes and styles. Four of the special liveries have been created by the Fiat Centro Stile design team and inspired by Disney Creatives, while the fifth is a collaboration with Disney's own artist Giorgio Cavazzano.

Cavazzano's design takes center stage and displays Mickey's exuberant personality. It features vibrant artwork with an orange and red theme and a starburst of Mickeys.

The four others are meant to depict the evolution of Mickey Mouse in chronological order, with one of the liveries featuring black and white graphics and representing a nod to Mickey Mouse's debut on the big screen in 1928 in the black and white short film Steamboat Willy. There is also a Modern version that focuses on the famous rodent's initials and has Mickey's head on the doors, a Street version that boasts a colorful graffiti-style design, and an Abstract model with vibrant, abstract graphics.

Fiat's tiny new electric car, which is essentially a rebadged version of the Citroen Ami, is categorized as a quadricycle and can be driven by licensed drivers as young as 14. It is only 8.3 feet long with a top speed of 28 mph (45 mph). Its electric motor produces 8 hp (6 kW / 8 ps), while its 5.5 kWh lithium-ion battery offers a range of up to 47 miles (75 km).

These lively Mickey-themed quadricycles would make great and fun companions for any Gen Zer, but Disney fans will be dissappointed to find out the one-off Topolinos are not for sale. However, all five of them will be exhibited on top of Fiat's famous Lingotto factory in Turin, Italy, which also celebrates its centenary in 2023, so you do have a chance to check them out up close.

"Fiat and Disney are rooted together as they both celebrate 100th anniversaries. The two Topolinos - the Disney icon and the very first Fiat 500 – have been inspiring art, street art, and fashion for decades," said Fiat’s CEO Olivier Francois at the unveiling of the Mickey Mouse cars. "We have so much more in common than a name: DNA, authenticity, the importance of bringing people simplicity, warmth, and joy."
