Historically, 1962 was far more important for Chevrolet than 1963. The company celebrated its 50th anniversary, and despite not doing it with much fanfare (as the GM brand didn’t promote any special event on the radio or in print ads), the Anniversary Gold Impala was enough of a reason to think something must be going on.
On the other hand, 1963 also witnessed another important milestone, this time regarding just a single model and not the brand as a whole.

Chevrolet produced the 50 millionth car in 1963, and unsurprisingly, the model picked to mark this occasion was the nameplate that put it back on the map. A 1963 Impala Super Sport smiled in front of the audience in Tarrytown, New York, with Governor Nelson Rockefeller himself driving the car out of the factory.

The event ended up serving as great marketing material for Impala, especially as the popularity of the new SS was already on the rise in the States.

The 1963 coupe I discovered on eBay is not a Super Sport but an entirely original and unmolested Impala that is a great testament to those historic moments.

The car has never been restored, and given its impressive condition, whoever owned the car knew precisely what they were doing. They must have been true car aficionados, as it's pretty clear that maintaining the original interior in a top-10 shape isn't by any means easy. Everything inside is like-new, and nothing needs fixing or replacing. Even the original radio works, eBay seller orangecounty951 says.

The car is powered by the base 283 (4.7-liter), and given its overall condition, it's not a surprise it runs and drives beautifully.

The only real problem appears to be the current shape of the floors. The owner explains that the Impala requires some floor work, explaining that new floors are recommended to "make it 100% solid." No further specifics were provided, so I think you should go check out the car in person and then decide if new floors are indeed required. Also, make sure you check the rest of the underside as well, as rusty floors could be a sign of more such damage in other places.

This beautiful 1963 Impala is currently selling on eBay without a reserve, and to be honest, I'm not surprised to see the battle becoming so fierce. The vehicle has already received over 20 bids in just a few hours online, with the top offer currently surpassing $7,800. I'm certain the price will go up significantly in the coming days, as the auction is set to close by the end of the week. Since the auction comes without an auction, the top bidder will get their hands on the car.
