Something's going on with Tesla Cybertruck reservations, as people noticed their reservation details disappeared from their accounts. The change affects the earliest reservations with numbers starting with 112 and 113, making people suspect Tesla will soon open the Cybertruck configurations for them.
Tesla Cybertruck is now North America's most anticipated vehicle launch, having been hyped for the past two years. Earlier this year, Tesla announced in its investor filings that it would deliver the first Cybertruck units to customers by the end of the year, even though mass production might only begin next year.

Elon Musk appeared to confirm this timeline, although he also promised a key handover event "in the third quarter." Since we're in the last week of the quarter, expectations are sky-high that Tesla will deliver the first Cybertrucks in the coming days. Rumor has it that these units will first get into the hands of Tesla employees, and the company has already started the selection process.

Based on the latest information we have, Tesla has not yet started series production of the Cybertruck at Giga Texas. The units spotted in the wild are all manually assembled in Fremont, which means the 2024 start of production is more likely. Something is brewing, though, as some early Cybertruck reservation holders noticed Tesla removed the reservation details from their customer accounts.

Specifically, there is no information about what model and configuration some people reserved. This includes whether the FSD capability was ordered or not. The message on the order page now reads, "You will be notified to complete your Cybertruck reservation as production nears." This mainly happened to early reservation holders with reservation numbers RN112 and (to some degree) RN113. Others with higher numbers could still see their reservation details, such as the number of electric motors and the FSD capability.

This made people believe the first deliveries might be coming for those, and they will soon be allowed to place an order. Since those affected are the first to reserve a Cybertruck ("day one reservations"), they assume they are the chosen ones, and the delivery moment is just around the corner. Still, this could have a simpler explanation, such as a glitch on the Tesla website.

Whatever this is, Tesla will undoubtedly start Cybertruck series production soon. Recent information indicated that the EV maker plans to have about 60,000 employees at Giga Texas working on the Cybertruck and the Model Y. The production at Tesla's gigafactory in Austin is now halted to install new upgrades that would allow an increased production pace.

Tesla Cybertruck has more than 2 million reservations, and every day, new potential customers pay the $100 reservation fee to join the list. This suggests increased pressure on the production workers to ramp up the Cybertruck output. It's hard to tell how many Cybertrucks will be produced in the first year and how fast the production will ramp, but it's clear that a new "production hell" is imminent.
