File this under “rich people problems.” Or “look before you buy.” A couple bought a new-built house in Birmingham, U.K., only to discover some months after they moved in that they couldn’t drive their BMW in their driveway.
They’re now talking to the media, making sure they let the world know just how unhappy they are with the developer. The same developer, by the way, has promised to fix the problem by widening the driveway so they can bring their car in and open the doors without hitting anything, but the two are convinced whatever will be done will be no good.

Talk about a negative attitude!

They describe their experience since moving in the £250,000 house “six months of pure hell.” Saika Ali and husband Muazzam tell the Daily Mail they saved up and looked for their dream house, which they thought they found when they saw the property. Somehow, they missed the narrow driveway, which allows for a car to drive in but not for anyone to get out of it: at 8ft, it’s too narrow for that.

To add insult to injury, the garage found at the end of the driveway is just as narrow, so they can’t use it, either. Because of this, the two have had to sell their Toyota Yaris and make do with a BMW X2. Clearly, trading in the BMW for a smaller car is not even a distant possibility.

“The drive has been a complete waste of space. A dead space, you can't get out of your car because you'd hit the wall,” Muazzam tells the Mail. “It's too small, we've paid a hell of a lot for this house; our first home together because we were renting for two years.”

“We've got a garage at the back as well but we can't even get our car in there, what's a garage for?”
he continues. “What they should have done is move the garage forward but it's at the back and takes up a proportion of our garden. We're far from happy.”

Despite their complaints that the developer is doing nothing to right the wrong, works on the driveway have already started. And the developer tells the Mail they should be over soon.
