Earlier today we told you that Chevy is not considering a new Corvette ZR1, claiming that such a supercar will require significant investment for very little performance gains over the 620+ HP Z06.
We're now back on the Vette topic to report that the Bowtie brand could offer a more aggressive version of the Z06 in the shape of a track-only car inspired by the 2010 Corvette C6 Z06X.

If it's too old to ring a bell, the Z06X was a track-ready concept based on the sixth-generation Corvette Z06 that was fitted with multiple carbon fiber body parts, a C6.R-spec rear wing and a full roll cage, among other features. It was featured at the 2010 SEMA Show.

“The idea was a non-street-legal, factory-built track car, and that is something that we are considering would be a great thing to apply to the new Corvette Z06,” Corvette product manager Harlan Charles tod Car and Driver. “I mean that’s something we could see in the future. We’ve got a lot of ideas, but nothing to show today, unfortunately.”
