Word is going for some time that Toyota is working on a new Supra. Heck, even chief engineer Tetsuya Tada admitted that the GT 86 should have a bigger and smaller brother, one of them hinting at the next generation Toyota Supra of course.
Rumors came and went... word was that Toyota partnered with BMW for more than just developing batteries, but nothing physical surfaced. Then Toyota teased that Supra-like concept car silhouette for the Gran Turismo simulator, hinting that something really is on the works.

Now, several auto websites reported that the automaker recently registered the “Mirai” trademark, name that will probably be used for one of its cars. Judging by the fact that “mirai” is Japanes for “future”, we can only hope it’s designated for the future Supra and not some kind of keycar.

Searched a bit for the source that spawned all the reports and yes, you can see the “Mirai” nameplate having been registered here.
