It was Contest Yachts who commissioned Bentley to fashion an ultra-luxurious cabin space for their magnificent Contest 67CS 20-meter leisure vessel after an invitation to view Bentley's state-of-the-art R&D facility in Crewe, England, near the English border with Wales. Using cutting-edge AutoCAD software and clever 3D printing techniques to devise the working mockup for this fine ship, what results is a space that almost tricks you into thinking you're still on dry land when you're inside it.
With inspiration taken from Bentley's flagship Grand Tourer, the Continental GT, the Contest 67CS's plush, hand-stitched leather, polished wood, and tasteful interior trimmings that make apartments in New York or London feel tacky, this is a marvelous place to spend time. Indeed, all the awesome furniture is custom fabricated to the dimensions of the vessel they reside in. Every sofa, mattress, tabletop, kitchen appliance, and every last chair was also manufactured in this manner for the heir of exclusivity that permeates every nut and bolt of this vessel.
With so much Bentley-branded decor constantly within your line of sight aboard this fine ship, you can't help but wish it was powered by the same W12 they put in the "Conti" GT. Sadly, this is the kind of sailing vessel that tours the globe as fast as the wind around it cares to take it. Even so, there are plenty of USB charge ports and fabulous amenities for you and your guests to pass the time with. Even the tissue boxes and drink coasters can be custom-ordered with any patterns or designs you like on them.
"Yacht interiors, like that of a car must be exact with precision detail. Whilst it was a challenge for our design teams to adapt their craft skills to an interior, providing a totally bespoke extension to our automotive interiors for the water we are delighted with the result. The finished article is a testament to the incredible talent and skill of our craftsmen and women who rose to the challenge and pushed the boundaries of what is possible," explained Dr. Matthias Rabe, Board Member for Engineering at Bentley Motors. "It has been a pleasure to work with the Contest Team - we share not only a renowned heritage in performance and luxury, but also the desire to continually innovate to provide cleaner, greener efficiencies in our work and production practices and output,"
As for what it would cost to have your Contest 67CS trimmed out like this? Well, Bentley won't say for now. But if it winds up selling for anything less than $1 million, or whatever that works out to in British or European money, we can say with the utmost certainty that the new owner's stolen the thing. We'll be sure to look on from the sidelines, seething that we can't afford a boat even half as nice.
