It appears that the DS3 Cabrio is not the only variant of the firm’s highly-successful posh city car to be brough to the Paris Motor Show. Citroen have announced that they will also be bringing an all-electric variant of the car to Paris - it’s called the DS3 Electrum.
It is powered by two 65 kW (88 hp) electric motors which draw power from a 17.5 kWh battery pack. It enables the little Citroen to travel as much as 120 km (75 miles) without the need to charge. Furthermore, Citroen are also pleased that they managed to integrate the electric bits in the car in an ‘non-intrusive’ way - it takes up no more space than the drivetrain of the regular car.

Charging up to 80% takes as little as half an hour with the use of a quick charger, so it shouldn’t be a problem for even the busiest of customers. If the reaction at the motor show is a positive one, Citroen will undoubtedly consider putting the DS3 Electrum into limited production, we say.

autoevolution will be attending the Paris Motor Show 2012, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
