Stellantis is finally moving Chrysler into the right EV direction and the Halcyon 'sedan' concept is the harbinger of things to come - all imbued with STLA stuff that they hope will make Tesla green with envy, rather than sustainability.
Right now, after Chrysler axed production of the 300 sedan late in 2023, the only model it’s still manufacturing is the not-so-great Pacifica and Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid. Well, hopefully sooner rather than later, they will also have electric vehicles in the range. The preview for them is already here and it’s called the Chrysler Halcyon Concept.

It’s not something that we will see in production, most likely, as it’s described as the “fully electrified future vision of Chrysler that embraces sustainable design and full autonomy paired with personalized driving experiences.” The prototype integrates all that its parent Stellantis has great, including stuff like STLA Brain, STLA SmartCockpit, and STLA AutoDrive technologies. More precisely, they enable Level 4 autonomous-driving features with “a Stargazing Mode in which seats morph into a laid-back position while the augmented-reality windshield HUD projects information on stars and constellations.”

There are also facial biometrics to turn the driver into the car’s key, personalized vehicle sounds and vibrations, and even DWPT (Dynamic Wireless Power Transfer) – a technology that “wirelessly recharges electric vehicles (EVs) traveling over specially equipped, dedicated road lanes, allowing for unlimited range and travel.” Unfortunately, Chrysler doesn’t say anything about the platform and powertrain details, although we can safely assume it’s based on the STLA Large just like the upcoming 2025 Dodge Charger Daytona all-electric muscle fastback coupe.

The Chrysler Halcyon is a very aerodynamic ‘sedan’ that mimics the styling of the Tesla Model 3 fastback while improving its every design angle – both inside and outside. For example, at the front there’s a full-width adaptive LED band functioning as the headlight assembly along with a new LED Chrysler wing logo, while at the rear along with the LED band there’s also Active Aero Technology featuring a sliding rear lower diffuser. Meanwhile, inside there’s only a stowable 15.6-inch console screen that can rotate into portrait or landscape mode and the steering wheel also features the odd shape of a yoke combined with a traditional steering unit.

Anyway, the real piece of resistance for the Chrysler Halcyon sits at the edge between the cockpit and the exterior – it’s the 90-degree opposite-opening door assembly with no B pillar and a hinged butterfly-style canopy! Although it’s quite long to explain, once the doors open and the canopy elements are up, it looks quite spectacular from every angle – and it also probably makes it easier to get in and out from the extremely low concept. Now, hopefully, Chrysler will soon announce a series-production model taking cues from the Halcyon!
