We wanted to share some crazy quattro color combinations. But since Audi Forum Ingolstadt is busy posting omelets and celebrity photos, we decided to see what's up in Mercedes town.
And we were more than happy with what we found at Mercedes-Benz Kundencenter, a unique AMG wagon paintjob. As far as we know, this is the only E63 S in the world to be painted in China Blue. And it's painted, not a wrap.
In fact, China Blue is so rare that Google only knows about one other Mercedes model finished in this color, a particular AMG GT. Of course, fans of the old timers will point out that China Blue used to be offered in the good old day and was relatively popular on the W123, but we think that color looked a little different. I think they also used it on the heritage edition G-Class about three years ago, right?
After falling from grace for a couple of decades, pastel colors are making an automotive comeback, and we couldn't be happier. Besides the lovely sky-colored paintjob, this E63 S wagon also has a variety of black trim pieces, carbon mirrors, and two-tone wheels, though it's probably not an Edition 1 (the timeframe is wrong). Obviously, it's there to show potential customers how they can spend ludicrous amounts of money on options.
But we'd be more than happy with the bone-stock E63 S, especially the sexy wagon format. Until the new RS6 Avant is ready to compete, this has to be the best vehicle of its kind. You can have more power in the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, but that doesn't mean you'll have more fun.
This AMG has a sort of motorsport pinpoint accuracy. And when you get tired of putting 612 horsepower down accurately with AWD, you can engage drift mode and pretend to be Keiichi Tsuchiya.
