A Chevrolet Silverado ran over a C8 Corvette in a bizarre crash that took place in Thornton, Colorado. But it was not as bad as it sounds because, luckily, everyone walked away unharmed.
The crash proves that the C8 Corvette is one hell of a car even when performance is not involved. The pillars of the vehicle somehow managed to sustain the weight of an entire Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, which tips the scales at a minimum of 6,800 pounds (3,084 kilogram), depending on engine and trim.

Keep in mind that the targa-style rooftop of the Corvette manually comes down and can be stored neatly in the trunk. And that was where it was at the moment of the crash.

Luckily, the disparity in size was canceled by the strength of the aluminum structure of the Corvette. It must also be the crossbar at the top of the windshield, that connects the A-pillars, that is doing all the heavy lifting here and keeping the pickup truck away from the body of the driver trapped inside his sportscar.

The photos shared on X by the Thornton Fire Department show the black Silverado on top of the orange Corvette. The front wheels of the pickup truck flanked the side windows of the supercar, while its belly set on the roof and windshield, right above the one who was sitting behind the steering wheel.

These images are the aftermath of what seems to be a head-on collision, in which the Silverado drove up onto the Corvette. The authorities had to temporarily close down the road and are still investigating the crash. They did not release any information on how the incident took place.

The crash happened on Monday night at the intersection of 168th Avenue and Colorado Boulevard in Thornton, ten miles north of Denver. The first responders who arrived at the scene were surprised to see everyone unscathed.

Three fire departments worked to lift the Silverado off of the sports car. They were only able to set the Corvette free after removing the pickup truck’s right front tire. That was also when the responders managed to open the door and pull the driver out of the car.

How did the Silverado managed to climb over the Corvette? Well, just consider that the model has a ground clearance of 8.9 inches (226 millimeters), with an aproach angle of 18 degrees. The Corvette needs to lift its nose to be able to clear a speed bump and would never dare try a kerb.
